Linares

Glorias de Linares, Catedral San Felipe, craft brewery, and the municipal symphony orchestra. Citrus capital of the south.

~130 km · 1.5 hrs366 m elevation≈ 86,000 residents

Linares is the citrus-growing heart of southern Nuevo León and one of the best-preserved colonial towns in the state. Its 18th-century Catedral de San Felipe Apóstol, the Palacio Municipal with historic frescoes, and the Casa de la Cultura inhabit a historic center that invites exploration on foot. National fame comes from glorias de Linares—burnt milk candy with walnut—and from sustaining the country's only self-funded Municipal Symphony Orchestra. Barbacoa de chivo with pulque, pan de pulque, and local craft beer complete the experience.
